How does the equipment work?

Headphones

There were 3 main criteria when having our headphones manufactured; Sound Quality, Comfort and Ease of use.

The headphones have 3 simple controls

  • Power On/Off
  • Change Channel Button
  • Volume Control

You can adjust the width of the headband, and the earpieces tilt to the angle of your head and fit completely around your ears rather than sitting on them, so you can hear very little of the outside world, they also have noise cancelling circuitry, which actively reduces any background noise, the result is an incredibly comfortable and immersive sound experience. Clarity, Fidelity & Comfort.

The headphones are very comfortable and are specially designed for dancing so won't just jump off your head. Some people have said they feel like Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones to wear, high praise indeed.

The Silent Disco UK headphones have an environmentally friendly Lithium-Polymer rechargable battery, which means no messing about with charging and disposing of 1000's of single batteries (unlike some of the other Silent Disco companies!), Battery life is 8-12 hours depending on the listening volume. The headphones turn off automatically if nothing is being broadcast, so they don't go flat unnecessarily.

lastly, where audio becomes visual, the channel you're on determines the spectral colour of the LED light on the front of the headphones, so you can see which channel other people are listening to, blending this silence with another dimension.

Transmitters

The transmitters are a breeze to set up, you connect your Music Source to the Red & White RCA Phono plugs, select the channel to broadcast on, power up and you're away! The Silent Disco UK transmitters are the most powerful on the scene, they can broadcast to an unlimited number of headphones and the signal can be picked up over a 200 Metre radius, which equates to an area of 125,600 square metres, or almost half a Kilometre across!

MP3 Player/Laptop Setup

Plug an MP3 Player or Laptop into a Transmitter with the Red and White RCA Phono leads, select a channel to broadcast on, set the volume, press play and you're off!
